Why Get a Second Opinion

Before you commit to surgery or a major treatment decision, it's worth knowing you have the full picture. A second opinion gives you:

Added confidence in your diagnosis and plan

+

A view of every treatment option available to you

♡

Peace of mind before making a major decision

Addressing the Hesitation

Many patients hesitate to seek a second opinion because they worry it might seem like a lack of trust in their current doctor. It isn't. Seeking a second opinion is a normal, expected part of orthopedic care, especially before surgery. It's simply a way to feel fully confident before moving forward.

How It Works

1

Call the office.

Tell us what you're looking for, a review of your imaging, your diagnosis, or both. We'll explain what to send or schedule your visit.

2

Send your records, or come in.

If you're local, we can review everything in person. If you're not, send your MRI, X-rays, and any relevant records, and we'll review them remotely.

3

Get a clear, honest answer.

You'll hear directly from Dr. Thon: what he sees, what your options are, and what he'd recommend if you were his only patient that day.

Why Get Your Second Opinion Here

A second opinion is only as good as the surgeon giving it. Dr. Thon reviews your case personally, not a resident or assistant, and gives you the same unhurried, honest answer he'd give any patient walking through the door for the first time. No pressure to switch doctors. No pressure toward surgery. Just clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to switch doctors to get a second opinion?

No. Many patients get a second opinion and return to their original doctor with more confidence in their plan.

What do I need to send?

Your MRI or X-ray images (not just the written report), and any relevant medical records.

How much does a second opinion cost?

A second opinion consultation is $300 for a 45-minute appointment, in-person or remote. Imaging-only reviews are priced separately — call to discuss.

Can this be done remotely if I don't live in Colorado?

Yes. We regularly review imaging and records for patients outside the Denver area.

Orchard Orthopedics
The difference is the experience: designed around you, start to finish.

Orchard Orthopedics was built on a simple idea: the way medicine treats injured, active people is broken — long waits, rushed visits, and decisions shaped by insurance instead of what’s right for you. We chose a different model — direct access, unhindered care, and complete honesty about what you need, and what you don’t.

If you're dealing with a shoulder or knee injury, I’d like to help you get back to the life you’ve built.
